About Us

Wise County is located in North Texas, approximately 30 minutes northwest of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.  It covers approximately 900 square miles with a population estimated at 84,000 living in and around some 18 towns and communities. According to the most recent census data, Wise County experienced a 22.1% growth rate last year. The population of Wise County is poised to continue to grow at a rapid rate due to its proximity to the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, low tax rates, and available land/housing.

Wise County EMS Rescue provides emergency pre-hospital care as well as critical care transfers for the entire county. We have a staff consisting of around 85 full- and part-time EMTs and Paramedics responding to approximately 8500 calls for service every year.

We staff 6 Full-time MICU level ambulances which are staffed with an EMT-B/EMT-A and a Paramedic working 48 hour shifts on a 48(on)/96(off) schedule. We carry a full range of critical care medications and equipment including Phillips Lumify Sonography units, IV pumps, Zoll Z Vent ventilators, LUCAS devices, Zoll Xenix monitors, Glidescope GO Video Laryngoscopes, and more. Our staff operate under very progressive protocols to ensure that we are providing cutting edge medicine to the residents of Wise County.

Wise County EMS Rescue utilizes a Squad vehicle, staffed with a critical care paramedic who serves as the shift Lieutenant. The Squad is equipped with a Zoll Xenix monitor, ALS intervention kit, a Mavic 3 drone, and a blood refrigerator. The Squad responds to critical medical calls and supports the MICU and Rescue units on major accidents and technical rescues. A second Squad unit is utilized during peak operational times as needed.

Wise County EMS Rescue also operates a Paramedic Rescue Unit. Our Rescue staff have many years of critical care EMS experience in addition to being trained firefighters with vehicle extrication, fire suppression, trench rescue, rope rescue, and swift water rescue capabilities. The shift Captain operates on the Rescue truck, or out of a command vehicle depending on operational needs. A second Rescue truck is utilized during peak operational times as needed.

To supplement our rescues capabilities Wise County EMS Rescue has a Special Operations truck, two boats, a UTV equipped with a specialized bed insert capable of carrying a patient, as well as three Matrice 4TD drones.

Wise County EMS Rescue also supplements the Wise County Fire Marshal's Office with 8 commissioned peace officers. Wise County EMS Rescue commissioned peace officers are also active members of the Wise County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team providing both team members and medical support staff.
